Congratulations to TEAM AMMA Shooto fighters.
The recent C Class Shooto event was held at Arena Martial Arts in Freo. Team AMMA had 4 fighters heading into the competition but one of our team (Chad) pulled out prior to the event. Don't worry, he will be back in for the next competition tho!
Joe S lead TEAM AMMA and was our first fighter. He has been training really hard and had a great game plan going into the fight. Got the take down, passed the guard and heading for his favorite sub, lifted his head a touch to high and got rolled. Joe ended up tapping from a triangle but put on a great fight.
Raoul was next the rank, pulling one of the top BJJ fighters Wil Diaz. This was Raoul's first fight and was against a very experienced opponent. Raoul fought well, getting taken down in the first round but recovering and getting on top of Wil at the end of the first round. Second round saw Raoul turn it up and Wil took a few knees to the face and body, Raoul didn't get hit.... At the end of the fight, Wil won via points but was a huge moral victory for Raoul and Team AMMA.
Blake was our last fighter and ended up with the 'Submission of the night' as well as Team AMMA's only victory. Blake got the slam, missed the choke, played guard and then secured a fig four for the finish. Great set up and sub Blake!

You all did me proud, and I would like to send a MASSIVE thank you to Nathan Frost as well. Nathan did all the running around at the competition (most of which involved getting me food and coke), came down to corner the guys and has been inspirational in some of his training as well as coaching. Thanks again Nathan, your a great friend.
