What is Muay Thai?mtfightas_medium.jpg

Muay Thai is the ancient art of Thai Boxing that has evolved in Thailand over the last 2000 years. Muay Thai has been handed down through generations and is a part of the Thai legacy that played a major role in restoring of Thai freedom in the year 1584. It has continued on and has now become what it is today, a sport, a form of self-defence, fitness and undeniably an art form.

At the Academy we have a grading system for Muay Thai, which works through 7 ranks, with each rank to be achieved having a recommended training time to complete. The first beginners rank being White where you learn the basics of movement, foot work and striking skills to Black rank where you have a full understanding of Muay Thai and can perform all skills with a high degree of proficiency and prowess.

When you successfully complete each grading you receive a certificate, certifying your rank and a coloured training shirt, which denotes the rank you have achieved. This shirt displaying your rank must be worn to each training session until you achieve the next higher-ranking colour.
